Everyone rebuilds the same match
Every match begins as physical reality: players moving through space, a ball travelling through time, officials making decisions. Today, each downstream system reconstructs that reality independently. Broadcasters build production systems. Officiating vendors build ball-tracking. Data companies build event feeds. Betting and fantasy operators build their own scoring. Each recreates the match from scratch, each adds latency, each introduces its own version of the truth.
That architecture is a survival of analogue-era constraints — limited-range cameras, satellite transponders, fixed outside-broadcast trucks — that compute, sensors, and IP networks have since dissolved.
One truth layer, many renderers
The shift is to capture reality once as a continuously-updated, time-synchronised, confidence-weighted digital twin of the match — and let broadcast, officiating, analytics, betting, fantasy, and coaching all render from the same authoritative source. Broadcast becomes one renderer among many. An LBW review, a fantasy bonus, a betting settlement, and a graphics overlay all draw from the same event, the same timestamp, the same provenance.
Two consequences follow immediately. The cost of every new renderer collapses — a new fantasy variant becomes a software integration, not a new sensor stack. And truth becomes consistent across every consumer of it.
Why this is infrastructure, not media
The organisation that captures reality once, represents it canonically, synchronises it globally, and distributes it to every participant becomes the operating system of sport. Broadcasting is merely the first application. That's the thesis behind NoPixel.
